Wuchereria

Wuchereria /vo̅o̅′kərē″rē·ə/ [Otto Wucherer, German physician, 1820–1873] , a genus of filarial worms found in warm, humid climates. Wuchereria bancrofti, transmitted by mosquitoes, is the cause of elephantiasis. See also filariasis.
