worm /wurm/ [AS, wyrm] , any of the soft-bodied, elongated invertebrates of the phyla Annelida, Nemathelminthes, or Platyhelminthes. Some worms are parasitic for humans. Kinds include hookworm, pinworm, tapeworm. See also fluke, roundworm.
