Winckel’s disease

Winckel’s disease [Franz Von Winckel, German gynecologist, 1837-1911] , a fatal disease of the newborn caused by colon bacilli entering the stump of the umbilical cord. Characterized by hematuria, jaundice, enlarged spleen, collapse, and convulsions. See also hemoglobinuria.
