urorectal septum /-rek″təl/ [Gk, ouron + L, rectus, straight, saeptum, wall] , a ridge of mesoderm covered with endoderm that in the early developing embryo divides the endodermal cloaca into the urogenital sinus and the rectum. Also called cloacal septum.
