troche /trō″kē/ [Gk, trochos, lozenge] , a small oval, round, or oblong tablet containing a medicinal agent incorporated in a flavored, sweetened mucilage or fruit base that dissolves in the mouth, releasing the drug. Also called lozenge, rotula, trochiscus.
