traumatic thrombosis

traumatic thrombosis [Gk, trauma, wound, thrombos, lump, osis, condition] , intravascular coagulation of a vein or other blood vessel after injury or irritation. The condition may develop as an adverse effect of an IV injection that damages the wall of a vein. See also thrombophlebitis.
