transseptal fiber /transep″təl/ [L, trans + saeptum, wall] , any of the many filamentous tissues of the gingival system that extend mesially from the supraalveolar cementum of one tooth, through the interdental-attached gingiva above the septum of the alveolar bone, to the distal cementum of an adjacent tooth.
