thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)

thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), a substance produced in the hypothalamus that stimulates the release of thyrotropin (thyroid-stimulating hormone) from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. Formerly called thyrotropin-releasing factor, TSH releasing factor.
