talar dome lesion (injury), a defect in the rounded area of the bone that articulates with the tibia at the ankle, caused by injury to the cartilage and underlying bone. Talar dome injuries are often missed on initial examination of a routine ankle sprain only to be diagnosed weeks after the injury.
