sleep studies

sleep studies, an electrodiagnostic test used to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea. It is performed in a sleep laboratory where the patient is monitored by electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, electroencephalogram, and electromyography. Also called polysomnography.
