Schüffner’s dots

Schüffner’s dots [Wilhelm A.P. Schüffner, German pathologist, 1867–1949] , coarse pink or red granules seen in the red blood cells of patients with tertiary malaria. They are signs of Plasmodium vivax or P. ovale and are absent in blood cells of patients infected with other types of malaria.
