radiography /rā′dē·og″rəfē/ [L, radius + Gk, graphein, to record] , the production of shadow images on an image receptor through the action of ionizing radiation. The image is the result of the differential attenuation of the radiation in its passage through the object being radiographed. −radiographic, adj.
