pyruvate kinase deficiency

pyruvate kinase deficiency, a congenital hemolytic anemia transmitted as an autosomal-recessive trait. The homozygous condition is characterized by severe chronic hemolysis. The heterozygous form is usually asymptomatic and of no clinical significance, although mild to severe anemia may occur.
