presumptive signs /prē-sump″tiv/ [L, praesumere, to take beforehand, signum, mark] , manifestations that indicate a pregnancy, although they are not necessarily positive. Presumptive signs may include cessation of menses and morning sickness. See also Chadwick’s sign.
