preferential anosmia

preferential anosmia /pref′əren″shəl/ [L, praeferens, being preferred; Gk, a + osme, not smell] , the inability to smell certain odors. The condition is often caused by psychological factors concerning either a particular smell or the situation in which the smell occurs.
