Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) [Gk, pneuma, air, kystis, bag, pneumon, lung] , a type of interstitial plasma cell pneumonia in which the alveoli become honeycombed with an acidophilic material. The patient may or may not be febrile but usually is weak, dyspneic, and cyanotic.
