pacing

pacing [L, passus, step] , setting of the heart’s rhythm by the sinus node, by another site in the heart, or by an artificial electrical stimulator. Also called atrial pacing, endocardial pacing, sequential pacing, ventricular pacing. See also programmable pacemaker.
