oubain

oubain /wäbā″in/ , a crystalline glycoside derived from the seeds of Strophanthus gratus and the wood of Acocanthera oubaio. It blocks Na+K+ATPase similarly to strophanthin-K and the digitalis glycosides and is often used in pharmacological studies because of its greater solubility in water. It is also used as an arrow poison.
