osmometer /ozmom′ə·tər/ [Gk, ōsmos, impulse + metron, measure] , 1. a device for measuring the acuity of the sense of smell. 2. a device for measuring osmotic pressure either directly or indirectly. It was formerly used to assess the extent of dehydration or blood loss.
