nondepolarizing blocking agent

nondepolarizing blocking agent, a compound that causes paralysis of skeletal muscle by blocking neural transmission at the neuromuscular junction. It acts by competitive binding to and inactivation of the cholinergic receptors of the motor end plate without depolarizing the postsynaptic membrane.
