neutropenia

neutropenia /no̅o̅′trōpē″nē·ə/ [L, neuter, neither; Gk, penia, poverty] , abnormal decrease in the neutrophil count associated with acute leukemia, chemotherapy, and idiosyncratic drug reactions, predisposing individuals to infection. Compare leukopenia. See also neutrophil.
