naphazoline hydrochloride /nəfaz″əlēn/ , an adrenergic vasoconstrictor. INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of nasal congestion and as an ophthalmic vasoconstrictor to decrease redness and itching.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Glaucoma or known hypersensitivity to this drug or abnormal sensitivity to sympathomimetic drugs prohibits its use.
ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the most serious adverse effects are those associated with systemic absorption, including sedation and cardiovascular effects. Irritation to mucosa and rebound congestion also may occur.
