miracidium

miracidium /mir′əsid″ē·əm/ pl. miracidia [Gk, meirakidion, youthfulness] , the ciliated larva of a parasitic trematode that hatches from an egg and can survive only by penetrating and further developing within a host snail into a maternal sporocyte that produces more larvae.
