lipoproteins test (HDL, LDL, and VLDL), a blood test, performed as part of a lipid profile, to identify persons who are at risk for developing heart disease and to monitor therapy if abnormalities are found. Lipoproteins are considered to be an accurate predictor of coronary heart disease.
