linezolid

linezolid /lĭnez′olid/ , a synthetic antibacterial of the oxazolidinone class, effective against gram-positive organisms and used for the treatment of community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, and bacteremia. It is administered orally or intravenously.
