Lichtheimia sp

Lichtheimia sp., a fungi present in the environment, usually soil-born or found on decaying plants and baked goods. It is capable of causing mucormycoses, a rare but emerging disease with a poor prognosis, especially in patients who are immunosuppressed. Formerly called Absidia.
