leptocytosis

leptocytosis /lep′tōsītō″sis/ [Gk, leptos, thin, kytos, cell, osis, condition] , a hematologic disorder in which target cells are present in the blood. Thalassemia, some forms of liver disease, and hemoglobin C disease are associated with leptocytosis.
