kinin

kinin /kī″nin/ , any of a group of polypeptides with varying physiological activity, such as contraction of visceral smooth muscle, vascular permeability, and vasodilation. Two principal kinins, bradykinin and lysylbradykinin, are formed in the blood from precursor kininogens by the action of kallikrein and kinases.
