hypoploidy

hypoploidy /hī″pōploi′dē/ , any decrease in chromosome number that involves individual chromosomes rather than entire sets so that fewer than the normal haploid number of chromosomes characteristic of the species are present, as in Turner’s syndrome. Compare hyperploidy.
