hydroxypropyl cellulose /hīdrok″sēpro′pil sel′u-lōs/ , a water-soluble derivative of cellulose, used as a pharmaceutic aid and also applied topically to the conjunctiva to protect and lubricate the cornea in the treatment of dry eye.
