hepatic amebiasis

hepatic amebiasis, a disorder characterized by enlargement and tenderness of the liver that is often associated with amebic dysentery. The inflammation results from direct infection with Entamoeba histolytica, ingested in water or food contaminated with human feces. See also amebiasis, amebic dysentery.
