hemoperfusion

hemoperfusion /-pərfyo̅o̅″zhən/ , the perfusion of blood through a sorbent device, such as activated charcoal or resin beads, rather than through dialysis equipment. Hemoperfusion may be used in treating uremia, liver failure, and certain forms of drug toxicity. Also spelled haemoperfusion.
