hemoglobin SD disease

hemoglobin SD disease, a genetically determined anemia in which the erythrocytes contain both hemoglobin S and hemoglobin D, with symptoms like those of mild sickle cell anemia. Also called sickle cell–hemoglobin D disease. See also sickle cell anemia.
