Hegar’s dilators

Hegar’s dilators /hā″gərz/ [Alfred Hegar, German gynecologist, 1830–1914] , instruments used to forcibly dilate the cervix. The instruments have blunt ends and come in sets with a range of diameters. See also bougie.
