halisteresis /həlis″tərē′sis/ [Gk, hals, salt, steresis, absence of] , a theoretic process of bone resorption in which bone salts are removed by humoral mechanisms and returned to body tissue fluids, leaving behind a decalcified bone matrix. See also osteolysis.
