folinic acid

folinic acid /fōlin″ik/ , an active form of folic acid. It is used to treat megaloblastic anemias that are not caused by vitamin B12 deficiency and to counteract the toxic effects of antineoplastic folic acid antagonists, such as methotrexate. Also called citrovorum factor, leucovorin.
