fluoroquinolone

fluoroquinolone /flo͝o″okwin′olōn/ , any of a subgroup of quinolones that contain one or more fluorine atoms attached to the central ring system that have a broader spectrum of antibiotic activity than quinolones. Kinds include nalidixic acid, ciprofloxacin (Cipro).
