esophageal web

esophageal web, a thin membrane that may develop across the lumen of the esophagus, usually near the level of the cricoid cartilage. The abnormal condition is generally associated with iron deficiency anemia and usually disappears when the underlying problem is resolved. See also Plummer-Vinson syndrome.
