edema of glottis

edema of glottis [Gk, oidema, swelling, glossa, tongue] , a swelling caused by fluid accumulation in the soft tissues of the larynx. Symptoms include stridor, hoarseness, and dyspnea. The condition, usually inflammatory, may result from infection, injury, or inhalation of toxic gases. Also called laryngeal edema.
