dynamometer

dynamometer /dī′nəmom″ətər/ [Gk, dynamis, force, metron, measure] , a device for measuring the degree of force used in the contraction of a group of muscles, such as a squeeze dynamometer, which measures the gross grip strength of the hand muscles. Also called ergometer.
