drug clearance

drug clearance, the elimination of a drug from the body. Drugs and their metabolites are excreted primarily by the kidneys into the urine, but other routes for elimination include bile, sweat, saliva, breast milk, and expired air. The rate of clearance helps determine the size and frequency of a dosage of a particular medication.
