delusion of grandeur /grän″dyo͝or/ , the gross exaggeration of one’s importance, wealth, power, or talents, as manifested in such disorders as megalomania, dementia associated with late-stage syphilis, and paranoid schizophrenia. It may have a somatic or religious theme. See also delusion.
