delayed hypersensitivity

delayed hypersensitivity, a type of hypersensitivity that (as opposed to immediate hypersensitivity) takes 24 to 72 hours to develop and is mediated by T lymphocytes rather than antibodies. Compare immediate hypersensitivity.
