corticotroph /kor′tikōtrof′/ , a small, irregularly stellate, acidophilic cell of the adenohypophysis, having small, sparsely distributed secretory granules and secreting adrenocorticotropic hormone and beta-endorphin. Also called corticotrope, corticotropic cell.
