convex spherical lens

convex spherical lens [L, convehere, to bring together; Gk, sphaira, ball; L, lentil] , a lens that has sides that curve outward like a section of the exterior of a sphere and that brings light to a focus. It is used in the treatment of hyperopia (farsightedness).
