continuous murmur

continuous murmur [L, continuare, to unite, murmur, humming] , an uninterrupted heart murmur or cervical venous hum that characteristically begins in systole and persists through diastole. Cervical venous hum is a normal finding in children; other continuous murmurs are always pathological.
