collagenous colitis

collagenous colitis /kəlajənəs kolī′tis/ , a type of colitis of unknown cause, characterized by deposits of collagenous material beneath the epithelium of the colon, with crampy abdominal pain; marked reduction in fluid and electrolyte absorption, leading to watery diarrhea; and no mucosal ulceration.
