coaptation splint

coaptation splint /kō′aptā″shən/ [L, coaptare, to fit together; ME splinte] , a small splint fitted to a fractured limb to prevent overriding of the fragments of bone during adjustment of the fracture. A longer splint usually covers the small one to provide more support and fixation of the entire limb.
