chronic obstructive pancreatitis

chronic obstructive pancreatitis, pancreatitis caused by dilatation of one of the major ducts proximal to an obstruction, usually from a tumor or scarring, which may be the result of earlier acute pancreatitis. Removal of the obstruction may improve pancreatic function.
