INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of non–insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Liver or kidney dysfunction or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the most serious adverse reactions are hematologic derangements and jaundice. Hypoglycemia, GI distress, and rashes are common adverse effects.
